Wedi cyfnod byr o salwch daeth y newyddion trist fis Mai am farwolaeth Anwen Hughes Y Glyn, Melin y Coed. Ymhlith yr holl gymdeithasau a sefydliadau yr oedd yn ymwneud â hwy, yn uchel iawn ar y rhestr o’i blaenoriaethau oedd Merched y Wawr. Bu’n hynod o weithgar ers y cychwyn gan ddal swyddi niferus – roedd yn Ysgrifennydd Cenedlaethol rhwng 1985 a 1988, ac ar hyn o bryd ‘roedd yn gydysgrifennydd y Rhanbarth a thrysorydd y pwyllgor Gŵyl a Hamdden. Gweithiai yn ddiwyd o fewn y mudiad ac ymunai ym mhob gweithgaredd yn lleol yng Nghangen Carmel, yn rhanbarthol yn Aberconwy ac yn genedlaethol.
