Early Proof Coin from Thailand Tops Auction

More than 300 coins and bank notes were offered in a recent Eur-Seree auction highlighting rarities from Thailand. Several of the Thailand rarities sold for at least five figures in the Bangkok Sale #65, which was held Dec. 2-3, 2023. The top lot was a Thailand BE2526//1983 Gold 2,500 Baht - Year of Disabled Persons graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (lot 3043) that realized THB 686,340 (about $19,900). The coin is one of the earliest gold Proof issues from Thailand, which also commemorates the International Year of Disabled Persons. The internationally recognized event is marked annually on December 3 and has evolved since the 1980s into the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
