CANADA FAKE $2 COIN HAS LONG HISTORY

Americans may be concerned about super $100 bank notes suggested to have originated in North Korea. Canada has its own problem—this being fake 2-dollar coins originating in China. The story appears to end with the September conviction of Jean-Francois Généreux from Sorel, Quebec, but the trail that led to Généreux being sentenced to nine months in prison for the crimes of importing and introducing counterfeit money into Canada has a much deeper story behind it. The 2-dollar coin is the highest denomination circulating coin in Canada. The coin was introduced in 1996, replacing the bank note of the same denomination.
