Walking to class at Alabama’s Auburn University, 22-year-old Hayden Hatfield was filled with despair. What am I doing with my life? she wondered. Why do I keep changing my major? What’s wrong with me? Just then, Hayden noticed a table with a “Be The Match” banner, where volunteers were recruiting bone marrow donors. Curious, she stopped and learned that it only took a quick swab of her cheek to get tested.
