Author and Screenwriter Helen Fielding first penned Bridget’s antics as a ‘modern-day woman’ in a newspaper column and later a series of books, before they became the hit franchise we’ve come to know and love. In stepped Renée, who many fans of Helen’s Bridget Jones’s Diary books doubted was right for the role. But her expert portrayal of the character, opposite Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, made them wonder why they had questioned the casting decision.
