Former Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins hosts this highstakes series where 12 of the UK's best amateur players go head-to-head for the title of Chess Masters champion.
'It gets very emotional,' says Sue.
'You make yourself very vulnerable in chess - your thought processes, your evaluations, the way you structure your brain, the way you anticipate. It's a battle and when you lose it's painful and difficult.'
