From Epping Forest in Essex to the Black Country and the Lake District, Michael Portillo is exploring more of Britain's most scenic and historic areas as he hops on board the UK's railways once more.

The new series begins with Michael exploring the Weald of Kent in south-east England.
'It's an area around 120 miles long, bordered by the North and South Downs and characterised by lots of ancient woodland. It was a very prosperous area for agriculture and for thousands of years, farmers would move their animals through the woods to graze on fertile pastures. As a result these very deep lanes have been created,' says Michael. 'The Weald was also rich in iron so became very affluent because of that.'
