The first hint that things aren't quite right happens during the treatment of patient Ellis Garrick, whose arm has been severed in a traumatic car crash. As Ellis loses blood, Russell (Robert Bathurst) insists that, instead of using a tourniquet, Rida (Sarah Seggari) stems the flow manually. Although baffled by the request, Rida gets on with things, as they head to the operating room.
