Hunters become hunted
As the Harkonnen troops march into the sand cloud created by their missiles, all you can hear is the troops’ cautious steps, surrounding the listening position. When one fires his gun, the burst zips across the room. Fremen warriors emerge from the audio gloom and your entire room fills with chanting; and you completely understand why the troops are so scared.

The basement
This scene, the lead up to which begins with the singing of a child only Poirot can hear (“the investigator has poached his egg”, as one character puts it), is the soundtrack’s best, with its combination of huge, bassy thumps, disembodied singing, wild woodwind action and a raging storm contributing to a chaotic, room-filling presentation.
