In die Langeberg buite Swellendam hou die sogenaamde uurkoppe oor die dorp wag. Dié vier prominente kruine – Tienuur-, Elfuur-, Twaalf- en Eenuurkop – reik almal tussen 1 100 m en 1 450 m die lug in. Volgens oorlewering het transportryers wat met vragte geelhout van George af op pad was na Kaapstad die stand van die son bo dié pieke as horlosie gebruik. Hierdie deel van die Langeberg val binne die Marloth-natuurreservaat. Met sy talle dagroetes vir alle ouderdomme is dit ’n gewilde stapplek vir gesinne met kinders, maar daardie koppe roep my nou al lank. Ek het al ophou tel hoeveel kere ek met die N2 hierlangs verbygery en verlangend na dié noordelike kim getuur het. Nou het die tyd om een van hulle aan te durf uiteindelik…
