Die maan en die Skerpioen Wanneer een hemelliggaam voor ’n ander inbeweeg, praat ons van ’n “okkultasie”. Die bekendste voorbeeld hiervan is natuurlik ’n sonsverduistering wanneer die maan voor die son inbeweeg. Die maan beweeg ook voor sterre verby. ’n Mens sou dink dit gebeur gereeld, maar dit is eintlik taamlik skaars, veral okkultasies van helder sterre. Trouens, daar is vanjaar slegs vier okkultasies van helder sterre wat sigbaar is uit Suid-Afrika. Op die aand van 17 Julie gebeur die okkultasie met die helder ster Antares, ook bekend as die “Hart van die Skerpioen” vanweë sy rooi kleur. Die tyd van die verdwyning verskil effens afhangend van waar jy jou bevind, maar as jy die lugruim vanaf 10 nm. begin dophou, kan jy nie die helder ster naby die maan…
