Toe my ouer suster, Gaynor, in Maart 2022 Suid-Korea toe trek om Engelsklasse te gee, het ek skielik ’n rede om oorsee te reis. Boonop stel sy toe voor dat ons daardie Kersfees by haar kom kuier. Uiteindelik sou ek – ’n gebore Swartlander van Malmesbury – ook ’n wit Kersfees ervaar! Maar eers moes die opwinding plek maak vir praktiese reëlings. Ek, my babasussie Mary-Beth en ons nefie Jarryd (my ouers het nie kans gesien vir die lang reis nie) het ure lank buite die departement van binnelandse sake se kantoor op Malmesbury tougestaan vir nuwe paspoorte. Die proses het seepglad verloop, maar ongelukkig het die een wat die dokument saamstel, my bos krulhare uit die foto “geknip” om dit in die spasie te laat inpas – en toe…
