Wat het jou verras? Die koue. Ons het die laaste keer in hulle winter (tydens die Desember-vakansie) gegaan. My suster Gaynor is al vir drie jaar ’n Engelsonderwyser op die dorp Munsan, sowat ’n uur per trein van die hoofstad Seoul af. Op die koudste dag was dit -12 °C! – en dit het gereeld gesneeu. Die strate is ongelooflik skoon en netjies vir so ’n digbevolkte land. Seoul het dubbel soveel mense as Kaapstad! Daar is nie sprake van rommelstrooi nie; mense sal eerder hulle rommel saamdra tot by ’n vullisblik, of dit by die huis gaan weggooi. Waarvan hou jy? Openbare vervoer loop klokslag; jy kan met ’n bus of trein na omtrent enige plek in die land reis. Die Koreane is dol op hulle koffie en dus…
