Having read this book, I now wish to own, paint, and play with a scale model of a British Crusader tank disguised as a lorry. To be clear, this is not because I was previously unaware of such clever subterfuge undertaken as part of Operation Bertram – it is simply because Hiestand's work makes me want to do it.
As both a keen amateur historian and a tabletop wargamer, this is the kind of reference book that I absolutely love. The introduction is brilliantly succinct, sufficiently detailed without being condescending, and that same tone continues throughout.
