LET'S PLAY A WAR TRANSFORMED

The latest Osprey Games hardback book release is A War Transformed. In this alternate Great War, in 1916 the moon was struck by an asteroid, shattering it. This event awakens the old gods and magic returns to the world. The sea levels have changed, exposing Doggerland in the North Sea, a land bridge between Britian and Europe. This exposed and fertile land is now the new arena for the rival nations.

One of the themes that defines WWI is the old world meeting the new. Cavalry charges meeting machine guns; the notions of a “clean gentleman's war” of the previous century, running headlong into the proverbial wall of modern industrial warfare. The destruction of great empires. The old world gives way to the new if you will. To an extent A War Transformed flips this on its head. Here, the world of science must give way to the ancient gods and creatures from the old, forgotten times. When humans feared the dark and otherworldly things prowled ancient forests, and mankind paid homage for their continued survival with pacts of blood. The game still has that classic WWI feel to it. Units storm trenches alongside lumbering tanks, fighting in brutal hand to hand…
