GENERAL WINTER

In this tutorial we will see how to create two different types of realistic snow bases, using specific scale modelling products: one featuring wet snow and another with white snow. This is the very first time I have used a dedicated product to create snow. Previously I've use traditional methods such as baking powder or sugar glass for snow.
GENERAL WINTER
The problem with using baking ingredients to form snow on the models, is that they are not “inert” and can react with other products we use on the base, or even with the material of the base itself. For instance, a common problem is that baking powder tends to yellow over time. Normally, I'd use copper coins as bases for my miniature models, however, baking soda snow bases develop a turquoise patina resulting from the rust in copper. For this set of models, I am using the “Winterizer” set by AMMO of Mig Jimenez (AMIG-7458) designed to avoid the issue of the snow changing colour.
