THE PERFECT RUIN

I find there's something very satisfying about creating a unique piece of terrain by adapting a commercially available product. This doesn't have to be too complex; it's the small details and additions that can make all the difference in a conversion.

When I first received the Warlord/Italeri Ruined Hamlet in 1/72 scale, I could see it had a lot of potential. This kit won't build a complete house but will provide you with several different sections that can be combined to make up the ruins of a farmhouse or outbuildings. From a practical gaming point of view, the hamlet needed to accommodate an infantry section of between eight to ten figures on 25mm round bases; aesthetically, therefore, I needed to create the impression the buildings were closer to 28mm scale.
