My brief from the editor for the front cover diorama was ‘something French’. Luckily, Perry Miniatures makes a pack of knights charging into an arrow storm and some casualties. I decided to depict Jean Poton de Xaintrailles.

My brief (and it was really brief) from the editor for the front cover diorama was ‘something French’. Joan of Arc was perhaps too obvious a choice, so how about one of her lieutenants? My own range (Claymore Castings) covers the earlier period of the war, so would not be great given the theme. Luckily, Perry Miniatures do the latter part of the war and make a pack of knights charging into an arrow storm and some casualties. I decided to depict Jean Poton de Xaintrailles. Jean was a minor noble of Gascon origin, and eventually he would become one of the chief lieutenants of Joan of Arc.
