GO WRITE A SCENARIO!

We all, I am sure, appreciate the many facets of our hobby: from historical research (to get that uniform just right), to the more obvious – rule book reading, army selection, collecting miniatures and painting. Add into this the hours spent planning table layouts, building and painting scenery, and all of this takes place even before the lines are drawn and dice start to roll! I have spent many a happy hour reading rulebooks, planning army lists and watching untold hours of historical documentaries while painting my ever-increasing collection. This hobby also directs and influences our choice of reading and viewing material; inspiring us and scratching that itch.
GO WRITE A SCENARIO!
One aspect of the hobby I had not really considered until I read “The Combahee River Raid” by Thomas Brandstetter (Issue 96) - was the “crafting” scenarios. A couple of years after reading this article, I had completed collecting and painting my ACW Union army and had played the scenarios from issue 96 a number of times: it seems to often be on top of my extensive WS&S pile! While watching The Civil War by Ken Burns, I was really drawn to the coverage of Sherman's March. This episode lit the blue touch paper and prompted me to have a go at writing my own scenarios: I watched and rewatched Burns and documentaries on YouTube, then then cross-referenced using the internet and books to ensure I have the “correct” version…
