BUYER BEWARE Eight out of ten cars for sale are a scam Ever read an advert for a Van and thought, ‘that sounds too good to be true?’ Well, chances are you’d have been bang on according to new research by high street bank Santander which revealed eight out of ten cars advertised for sale on Facebook trading platform Marketplace are a scam. Shockingly, Santander’s findings showed that in excess of 100,000 fake adverts are on the site at any one time, with their team uncovering 25 fake seller accounts and 4000 false posts. Said the lender’s fraud risk management guru, Chris Ainsley: “What we found on Marketplace is really concerning and problematic.
