A decade and more ago now an advertiser on Facebook was trying to flog his Indian Blue Panel Van. The prospects weren’t brilliant. A thrown together and no-doubt uncomfortable bed in the back and a complete lack of electrics hardly inspired a round-the-block queue. The van’s mileage was high, its engine’s performance sadly lacking, factory fitted options were nothing more than a figment of the imagination and the attention paid to the body’s preservation minimal. Nevertheless, along came a certain Simon Matthews, a young lad – well he was then – who had long wanted a Transporter and by good fortune at last was in a position to part with a bit of hard-earned brass.
The deal done, the van was soon on its way to its new home near…
