Over the past few years, we’d been told that our favourite European Vokswagen event was going to be handed over to a fresh team as the ‘old guard’, which includes our good friends, Paul-Yvon Duffieux and Jean-Marie Meersman, who had organised the event for the past 30 years, had decided it was time to take things a little easier. Make no mistake, those were some big shoes to fill. Running a show of this scale takes a huge amount of organising and serious dedication, but we’re pleased to say that the new guys, including Denis Smolders, Stéphane Bussing and Mike Zanella (see vwbugshow.be/en/apropos/), absolutely smashed it this year. In truth, it’s not fair to describe the crew as ‘new guys’ as they’ve been involved with the show for many years…
