It’s an age-old adage to never judge a book by its cover, and for good reason. If you’re buying a classic VW, though, it’s very hard not to. In fact, you kind of have to, as no seller is going to let you prod the underside of a prospective purchase with a screwdriver to see how much filler falls off.
