We’ve seen Golf diesel-powered Splits in the past, as well as Porsche and Corvairengined Buses, if six cylinders are more your thing. It’s also true that vintage VWs powered by electricity are not a recent development either. Dr. Adolf Kalberlah, an electrochemist and specialist in the field of battery research began testing on a Volkswagen Type 2 as early as 1972.
