A rare and interesting VW literature find prompts a pair of flip-top twins

Some time ago, while surfing the internet, I came across an interesting brochure I was not previously aware of. Designed to advertise Karmann Karosserie, it features an artist’s drawing of an early VW Cabriolet (known as Kabriolett at the time) painted in the unusual combination of antique ivory with brown wings. Entitled Eleganz und linie (elegance and line) the VW shares the cover with a stylised drawing of a woman with a sun visor and a tennis racket. Curious. Peer closely, and you can just make out the artist’s name, though it is difficult to decipher what it actually is, and the number 49, which I take as an indication of circa 1949.
