The convoluted tale of the ‘Svenska Binz’

BORDER PATROL I love it when you see or learn about something you’ve never seen before, only for it to then feel like you see it everywhere – the Baader-Meinhof effect in action. That, if you are unaware, is described as a cognitive bias that makes us notice something more frequently after becoming aware of it. I’m not sure about you but, in my experience, this effect occasionally seems to work with old VWs. Such is the case of the ‘Svenska Binz’, which it seems has been following me around for over a decade now. I used to import a few cars from Sweden, and I’m the sort of person who likes to buy car magazines when in foreign countries, even if I can’t understand all the words contained within.…
