TREASURE hunters with metal detectors have made many interesting and important discoveries over the years. Valuable Saxon armour, Viking swords and hordes of Roman coins are always declared ‘Treasure Trove’ and handed in to the authorities. But the law states that objects found on the beach, as opposed to the land, belong to the finder. EXCLUSIVE! So a keen amateur metal detectorist thought he had made the discovery of his life when he unearthed a valuable watch in the sand dunes in his home town of Sutton-on-Sea, Lincolnshire.
