Rocker May to turn iconic guitar back into fireplace

QUEEN GUITARIST Brian May famously built his trademark guitar using the timbers taken from an old mantelpiece. But after playing it in countless concerts, May plans to turn the instrument, nicknamed the ‘Red Special’ back into a working fireplace in an attempt to save on heating bills. The one-of-a-kind instrument, constructed with the help of his father in 1964, is one of rock and roll’s most famous guitars and has been a mainstay of the trademark Queen sound for more than fifty years.
