THE 99th National Bread Cookery Awards were held last night at the Hilton Hotel in London, and as ever, TOAST scooped the top award as the nation’s favourite way of cooking bread. It was thought by some that 2023 could have seen the crunchy snack voted off the top spot for the first time since the awards began, as top chefs experiment with other ways of cooking the staple foodstuff.
