BACK in the early 1980s, I lent a mate my 7” single of the Damned’s 1979 hit Love Song and, for reasons lost to time, placed it in a large Tupperware box with an airtight lid for safe-keeping. His family then moved house and we lost track of each other until just after lockdown, when out of the blue he got back in contact on Facebook. After some reminiscing, the conversation turned to me lending him the Damned single, which he believed he still had and would happily return to me.
