BEEFEATERS STRIKE OVER NEW APP

BRTAIN’S Beefeaters are threatening industrial action over a new smartphone app that they say is affecting their traditional business. The Beefeaters, in their familiar red and gold livery have been a fixture at the Tower of London for over 500 years. But a new hi-tech service Beefetr, launched in 2019, allows customers to contact beefeaters direct and order them to come to their home and perform a range of beefeating duties. They can even track the beefeater’s progress on a map, and rate them with a number of crown jewels. handy “This app might seem handy and modern,” says Tony Bellvan, head of the Union Of Beefeating and Amalgamated Yeomanry Trades, “but it’s chipping away at the traditional craft of beefeating.” And now UBAYT is calling for tighter regulation of Beefetr,…
