THE NOBLE tree at Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall has stood for centuries. But in the small hours of September 28th, a vandal – or vandals – took a chainsaw to this iconic landmark and lumberjacked it down. With no witnesses, no clues and no DNA evidence, the police have nothing to go on, and so far the crime remains unsolved – a 2-month old cold case. But at Viz, we have done a little digging around and we’ve come up with three prime suspects – three people with the motive, means and opportunity to commit this Crime of the Century.
