IT WAS Christmas Eve in Glenpeebles, and Sergeant Greenock was patrolling the village with his faithful Jack Russell terrier, Bob. All was peaceful as the villagers slept in their beds. But suddenly, the silence of the festive night was broken by shrill cry, “Help! Help ma boab! Fire!” ROUNDING the corner, the sergeant saw flames licking out of the window of Miss McCulloch’s cottage, her Christmas tree ablaze.
