Athlete James Phelps, who served with Harry in Afghanistan, talks to Us

While most Invictus athletes were meeting Harry for the first time — including Team USA, who had a lunch with the duke and his wife — it was a reunion for James Phelps, who served alongside him in 2012. “We were working with search and rescue helicopters,” Phelps, 44, told Us in Vancouver on Feb. 15. “So he came over and did a tour of our squadron. [He was just] a regular, genuine guy.” Phelps was deployed multiple times (and served on one mission credited with saving 500 lives) and eventually sought treatment for PTSD. “I got help before it was too late,” he’s said.
