A Minnesota Nordic skier at heart, this year’s women’s UltraRunner of the Year for the third consecutive season wishes winter would arrive soon at her home in Leadville, Colorado. She wants to get on her sticks. At the same time, she’s just as content to let the body and mind rest, knowing it’s been a long season. “I do skate skiing in the winter whenever I feel like it, or when the snow is good, and I don’t worry too much about the tradeoff between them (running and skiing),” Courtney Dauwalter said from her home at 10,000-feet surrounded by her proverbial backyard, the Rocky Mountains.
