KAMI SEMICK UROY: 2008, 2009

When I think back to 2008 and 2009, here are the things that stand out the most: the ease of running, the joy that comes from a hard, sweaty effort and my North Face teammate, Nikki Kimball. Was I focused on achieving UROY in those years? To be honest, I don’t think so. Why? Because UROY is a subjective award. How is a 24-hour effort around the track comparable with a 100k romp in the hills? Personally, I am driven by objective goals: pace, time and finish place. Those were easier to plan, practice and achieve. Let others decide what is a good performance or string of performances.
