ERIC CLIFTON UROY: 1992 In 1992, I was honored with both the Ultrarunner of the Year and Ted Corbitt awards mostly for being the first to win four of the (then existing) 11 100-mile trail races in the US, finishing three with course records all in the same year. This accomplishment is not to be confused with Tom Green’s stunning 1986 accomplishment of being the first person to finish four 100-mile trail races. For perspective, in 1992 I was 34 years old, Mike Morton turned 22, Camille Herron was 10, Courtney Dauwalter turned 7 and Jim Walmsley turned 2. I had been seriously running ultras since 1986 but had only been finishing 100-milers since the middle of 1989. I did have 100-mile fever though, and I loved running wild, single-track trails. In…
