Gothic mountain architecture and iconic rock formations on which to pose, barren moonscapes, hairraising ridges and deep-cut cwms which cradle glacial lakes – that's the Glyderau we all know and love. In just four square kilometres you will find scrambles of the highest quality at every grade, and numerous rock climbs which have thrilled generations of mountaineers. This adventure-packed inner sanctum, however, forms only part of a dog-legged ridge which rises for more than 12 miles from Capel Curig to Bethesda. To traverse the entire ridge is to experience one of the finest hillwalking expeditions in Britain. Strong legs are needed, as is resolve – Tryfan, seen but not touched, will taunt you throughout, tempting you off course. Leave her for another day!
