THE GRAND TOUR

The Scottish peninsula of Fife has a number of fine Marilyn hills, but the Grand Tour of the region's LOMOND HILLS must surely rank among the best hillwalks in Lowlands Scotland.

Last summer I was packing up my tent on Inverie Bay in LKnoydart,. the most remote part of the UK mainland. I'd just spent the weekend climbing the area's three Munros, including the spectacular and majestic Ladhar Bheinn – my favourite mountain and arguably the finest in Scotland and the UK. As I shoved the last of my tent into my bag before catching the last ferry to Mallaig I got chatting to a German couple who were visiting Scotland for the first time. They told me they had been to, Edinburgh, the Isle of Skye and were now in Knoydart to experience another ‘must see’ part of ‘Schottland’. They had aiew more days left before flying home to Bavaria and asked if there was anywhere else I would recommend.…
