The Lotus Evija is 1,680kg. One point seven tonnes? For a Lotus? Ridiculous. A Tesla Model X is up to 2,487kg. An elephantine amount of flab. So EVs must be clumsy and messy to drive. Well, yes and no. Let’s look at EV weights, and then see what they can do. “ALL ELECTRIC CARS ARE PORKERS AND HANDLE LIKE TANKS” We’ve all heard the Evija’s 1,500kW figure often enough. Where are the 1,500kW combustion cars to compare it with? And do they have AWD? The Bugatti Chiron does. It’s only 1,102kW, and even its ‘lightweight’ Sport version is 1,977kg. Oh. Anyway, the Chiron lacks the Evija’s four independent motors. Each of which can independently add torque to its own wheel, or drag it back, giving a degree of torque vectoring…
