The ISS is one of the greatest scientific achievements in history, with a mission to “learn how humanity can better live and work in space and to return the benefits of this research to people on the ground,” according to NASA. The ISS was assembled over multiple space missions by space agencies from 15 countries. It wasn’t meant to last forever, though, and continuing to use it as a scientific base would pose real challenges. Scientists considered several options for the ISS’s future but ultimately decided that pulling it from orbit and dropping it into the ocean makes the most sense. What do you think?
