Greenville Cypress Preserve, Mississippi

The Greenville Cypress Preserve is part of the Mississippi Delta, the northwest region of the state between the Mississippi and Yazoo rivers. Cypress trees have grown in the area for more than a century, with three strands currently in the 16-acre preserve. Trails allow people to explore the preserve and its patches of wildflowers, and boardwalks extend over the scenic swamps, where the cypress trees rise out of the water. Visitors may see herons, butterflies, salamanders, and alligators, while opossums and beavers are active during the night.…
