Series highlights neurodiversity

An upcoming animated series features characters created to promote acceptance and help kids understand that not everyone’s brain works the same way. Carl the Collector centers on a young raccoon with autism, a developmental disorder often characterized by challenges with social skills and language. In each episode, he and his friends—some who are neurotypical (having a brain not affected by a disorder or condition) and some who are neurodiverse (having a brain that works differently)—have adventures, try to solve problems, and learn to get along.
