NEW YORK CITY MARATHON There were two first-time winners at New York City’s 26.2-mile road race on November 3: Dutch runner Abdi Nageeye in the men’s race and Kenya’s Sheila Chepkirui in the women’s race. Nageeye is the first male winner in 31 major marathons who is not from Kenya or Ethiopia. Also for the first time, two Americans won the men’s and women’s wheelchair races: Daniel Romanchuk and Susannah Scaroni. MEN’S BASKETBALL With a 105–92 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on November 3, the Oklahoma City Thunder boosted their NBA record to 6–0, their best start ever.
