Peyton “Pop” Houston, a sophomore quarterback for Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana, entered the high school sports record book in a game on October 11. That night, he threw a record-breaking 817 passing yards in a game against Captain Shreve. His team lost, 77–76, in overtime, but Houston completed 53 of 68 passes for eight touchdowns. He is the first high school quarterback in the country to throw for more than 800 yards in a single game, beating a previous record of 787 set in 2015. His coach called the night a “once in a lifetime” experience.…
