Broadcast journalist Craig Melvin is news anchor of Today and co-host of 3rd Hour of Today. Now he’s tried something new by writing his first children’s book, I’m Proud of You. What inspired this book? I wanted to write a love letter to fatherhood. Once I became a parent, I noticed that picture books featured more moms than dads. Today, dads are very involved in their kids’ lives, and I wanted to celebrate that. Is it based on your family? Yes, the book is about being with my family, especially my son.
