Should cities require “No Mow May”?
When flowers, trees, plants, and grasses sprout in spring, it’s a busy time for bees and other pollinators looking for food and a place to live. But spring also brings out lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers, which aren’t great for our pollinating friends. A movement called No Mow May asks people to stop cutting and trimming their lawns for the month of May so flowering plants can flourish and give pollinators a spot to rest their wings.
