When this issue of The Week Junior went to press on May 30, people across the globe were preparing to celebrate World Oceans Day (p2). We are so pleased that we can bring this day to your attention and hope it inspires you to learn more about the Earth’s largest ecosystem. Oceans are truly incredible. They supply oxygen to the planet, absorb harmful carbon dioxide, and provide a home to millions of species of animals and plants. (See a few of them in our special edition of Photos of the Week on pages 16 and 17.) To continue doing all this and much more, they need protection.
