American driver wins Indy 500

On May 28, drivers competed in the 107th Indianapolis 500, an important event in the IndyCar Series, an elite level of American championship car racing. The race, which is known as the Indy 500, takes place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana. It consists of 200 laps around a 2.5-mile track, making the entire race roughly 500 miles long. More than 300,000 fans attended the event this year. In a thrilling finish, Josef Newgarden became the first American to win the Indy 500 since 2016. It was his first win in 12 attempts. “I just felt like everyone kept asking me why I haven’t won this race,” he said afterward.
