Soccer star’s success

Madison Hammond is the first Native American to play in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), and her achievement is the subject of a new mini-documentary titled Katishtya Girl. Hammond, age 25, is a defender for Angel City FC, a team in Los Angeles, California. Born in Arizona, she is Navajo, Pueblo, and Black. In the film, Hammond shares her journey from soccer-loving girl to the NWSL. When it comes to being a role model, Hammond said, “I just try to do me as best as I can.”…
